Here we go: in less than a week we’ll pack up boxes, dice and decks of cards and head to Germany. From October 22 to 25, LooMoon Games will be at SPIEL Essen 2026, the fair that, for those who make and love board games, is unlike any other event.

What is SPIEL Essen

SPIEL is the largest board game fair in the world. It takes place every October at Messe Essen, the exhibition centre of the German city in the heart of the Ruhr, and for four days, Thursday to Sunday, it turns its halls into one giant game room.

The 2025 numbers say it all: 220,000 visitors, a record in the fair’s history, with all four days sold out. There were 948 exhibitors from 50 countries, presenting more than 1,700 new releases across a record 77,500 m² of exhibition space.

But numbers only tell half the story. At Essen people sit down, play, and debate the rules with those who wrote them. It’s where publishers unveil the year’s releases, where designers sign boxes, and where players discover the games that will land on tables around the world in the months that follow. For many small studios it has been a launchpad: some who showed up a few years ago with a tiny booth now fill entire areas of the fair.

Why this one matters to us

Until a few months ago, we were touring game clubs with a box under our arm. Having a booth of our own in the middle of that crowd, a few steps away from publishers we’ve followed for years, is something that genuinely moves us.

It’s also the biggest chance we’ve had so far to put our games in front of people who don’t know us yet and, above all, to gather feedback. Every game played at Essen is one more piece of advice to make our games better.

At the booth: the LooMoon Games team, the designers of our games and the illustrators who gave them their look. Rules are taught in English or Italian, depending on who’s sitting across the table.

The games we’re bringing

SAPROMETE® is a competitive dungeon crawler for 2–4 players: each one leads an expedition, extracts valuable resources and tries to survive the dangers of a distant planet. At Essen it arrives in its final look.

BRISQUETTO® is a tactical trick-taking card game for 2–4 players where strategy, clever moves and five competing factions decide who takes the win. Quick games, perfect between one booth and the next.

Seasoned board gamers or simply curious newcomers: there’s a seat for everyone at our table.

Playtest schedule

Sessions last one hour and follow the same times for both games. Each session has 8 seats for SAPROMETE® (two tables of 4) and 4 seats for BRISQUETTO® (two tables of 2).

On Sunday the fair closes at 18:00, so the last session starts at 16:30.

How to book

Booking is free but seats are limited: choose a game, day and time and reserve a seat on Eventbrite.

BRISQUETTO only has two seats per session, so early booking is recommended.

Meeting the Captains who follow us online, face to face, is our favourite part of every fair.
